The Cookie Making Process – Where The Magic Happens

Have you ever wondered how cookies are made? It seems logical right? When we bake cookies at home, we buy what we need from the supermarket, knead the dough and bake the cookies…pretty simple. Well, at Dough & Co., the process is a bit different and it might surprise you. Here’s how.

    The Best Ingredients

A cookie is nothing without its ingredients. Ingredients make the taste, so we make sure that ours come from the best possible suppliers. We use real butter, Fair Trade chocolate, organic fruits and flour and the best quality almond flour.

Once we receive our ingredients from the supplier, they are additionally tested and sifted through to ensure top quality and hygiene. Lab professionals and factory heroes with years of experience are appointed to these jobs and perform them like experts every day.

    Mixing, Kneading and Spreading

At home, you are doing it all, mixing the ingredients, kneading the dough and spreading the cookies out on a baking tray. At Dough & Co., the process is highly automated to ensure efficiency, but we have expert factory bakers monitoring and adding to the process, to ensure that true craftsmanship is added.

The mixing of the wet ingredients happens in large batches. Ingredients are added one by one until the right consistency is formed. Each batch is individually tested by our expert bakers to ensure the right taste and top quality.

The dry ingredients are then slowly added until the perfect cookie dough forms. Of course, this dough is tested too. Next, the dough is spread out on large trays and formed individually by a machine, then double checked.

P.S. If you want to achieve the perfect cookie shape for any occasion, use quality cookie cutters.

    Baking and Packaging

The cookies are then baked in giant ovens of the best quality. We bake our cookies at high temperature to ensure a crispy outside layer and then reduce to a lower heat to keep the inside soft.

Once the cookies are done backing, they are removed from the oven and places in a cooling unit to cool down. Once they are cooled down, our employees package the cookie boxes according to order. This process can take quite some time, as our boxes are completely customizable.

All orders are double checked (including allergy indications!) before they are sent out and ready for delivery.

    The Bottom Line

Our process was created with our customers in mind. We aim to offer the highest quality and the best service. There is always room for improvement and we aim to improve more and more every day.

How the Cookie Manufacturing Process Became Sustainable

The sustainable cookie manufacturing process has become more important in recent years and this has required bakeries and food producers from around the World to adapt. Consumers are increasingly interested in the background of their food, including where it comes from and how it is produced.

From responsibly sourced raw materials to efficient production techniques, the cookie industry has made significant progess towards creating a more sustainable manufacturing process. But how did this transformation come about?

    Factory in Cookie Manufacturing

Why Sustainability Became Important in Cookie Production

For decades, the food industry focused solely on increasing production efficiency. This mean that while bakeries were able to produce large quantities of baked goods, environmental impact was worsening.

Today, many bakeries question their manufacturing process and focus on responsible ingredient sourcing, waste reduction and production efficiency improvements.

These improvements aid in creating cookies that are delicious and sustainably and ethically. produced.

    Responsible Ingredient Sourcing

Sustainable manufactring starts at the source: raw materials. One of the biggest improvements in the sustainable cookie manufacturing process is the use of sustainable, responsibly sourced ingredients.

Think of fair trade chocolate, sugar, flour and cocoa. These can now be sourced from suppliers that follow fair trade principles and sustainable farming practices. This also ensures that farmers receive fair compensation.

Using ingredients that are responsibly sources helps businesses maintain transparency in their supply chains, which is something modern consumers often value.

Reducing Waste in the Manufacturing Process

Another important sustainability step is the reduction of waste in cookie production.

Modern bakeries tend to focus on:

    • Optimizing ingredients usage
    • Reducing food waste during production (output efficiency)
    • Improving packaging efficiency
    • Recycling production materials wherever possible.

Such improvements allows bakeries to produce high quality products, while simultaneously lowering environmental impact.

    Innovation in Sustainable Baking

Technology plays a major role in the improvements of the sustainable cookie manufacturing process.

Modern baking facilities use advanced ovens, machinery and optimized production systems that help reduce energy consumption. Many bakeries are also exploring innovative ingredients and alternative packaging solutions to further improve sustainability.

Why Sustainability Matters for the Future of Baking

Awareness about environmental impact is growing continuously. Sustainability will therefore likely remain an important focus for the baking industry.

Companies that invest in responsible ingredients, efficient production and transparent supply chains will be better positioned to meet the expectations of modern consumers.

At Dough & Co., we believe that combining quality ingredients with sustainable production practices creates the best of both Worlds: cookies that you can enjoy with confidence.
